The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) is a world renowned and award winning choir specializing in after-school music education program for young people in New York City’s five boroughs. YPC’s mission is to provide children of diverse backgrounds with a creative outlet that encourages personal growth and artistic expression.
Position Overview
YPC has been extremely successful, well received and has grown significantly. The organization has an immediate requirement for a Marketing Assistant with strong writing skills. This individual will be responsible for supporting the Artistic Director in the development and implementation of marketing plans & strategies. They will also provide support in the development, production, approval, and evaluation of marketing materials, including: collateral materials, presentations, events, advertising, and plan-specific programs. This position has an opportunity for managerial growth.
General Position Responsibilities
Operational Specifics:
- Assist Artistic Director with all marketing functions to include planning, implementation and review of all promotional activities, marketing events & media/public relation activities.
- Use creativity and energy to roll-out marketing initiatives in order broaden the target audiences.
- Gather information from fan community and give an advise/feedback to the YPC team
- Conduct market research and convert information into intelligence as required.
- Contribute towards the development of marketing plans that positions YPC as a leader in the after-school music education program.
- Assist in media planning, promotion, image branding, creating direct mail promotions and special campaigns.
- Develop and implement YPC's web marketing program.
- Update YPC's website, including content development, maintenance of bulletin boards, etc.
- Create selected marketing materials using in-house desktop publishing programs.
- Copywriting, revision and proofreading
- Manage relationships with outside PR agency.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
- Candidate must have an Bachelors degree in Marketing or Journalism.
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years marketing experience is required
Required Skills:
- MUST BE A GREAT WRITER
- Ability to write effective marketing copy.
- Familiarity with project management of marketing campaigns.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Suite Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint & internet savvy a must
- Enhanced graphic design skills utilizing desktop publishing programs: good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Front Page, Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver & Flash
