The Choir Olympics

The 3rd Choir Olympics, July 8-18 2004

This summer, the YPC Concert Chorus and YPC Young Men's Chorus will be travelling to Bremen, Germany to participate in Musica Mundi's Choir Olympics, the single largest choral event worldwide. The two YPC choirs will be participating in the first half of the competition, which goes from July 8-12.

From the Choir Olympics webpage:

"No other idea has moved the international choral scene world-wide as strongly as the idea of the Choir Olympics. Based on great ancient traditions, it has inspired millions of people all over the globe. Already at its premiere in Linz/Austria in July 2000, it became the biggest international choir competition world-wide. After this successful start, the Choir Olympics continued its success in the metropolitan City of Busan/South Korea in 2002. However, Choir Olympics is more than just a global choir competition: it is a thousand-fold encounter of cultures, which goes beyond all national borders in a peaceful way."

The competitions take place in 26 different categories. All choirs will be evaluated by experienced international jurors. The choir-olympic competitions provide an outstanding presentation of choral singing all over the world.
