Chorus Divisions

Prelude / Sophia Miller (Conductor)

Prelude

Girls and boys, ages 7 through 10. Meets on Thursdays from 4:30-6 p.m. weekly from September through June. Through a Kodály music curriculum, children learn basic vocal techniques such as posture and breathing, sight-reading and performance skills. They sing unison, two- and three-part repertoire in many languages and present 3 to 5 public performances yearly.

Intermezzo / Sophia Miller and Elizabeth Núñez (Co-Conductors)

Girls and boys, ages 10 through 15. Meets Mondays from 4:30-6 p.m. from September through June. Through a Kodály music curriculum, children learn vocalization, sight-reading, written music theory, and performance skills. They sing unison, two- and three-part repertoire in many languages and present 3 to 5 public performances yearly.

Amani / Sheldon Ogbourne and Johnny Rabe (Co-Conductors)

Young men, ages 11 to 14 with changed voices. Amani meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. from September to June. Singers learn music theory, aural training and performance skills. Individual attention is given to each singer as his voice develops. They learn to sing in three- and four-part harmony and advanced level repertoire in many styles.

Cantare / Elizabeth Núñez (Conductor)

Girls and boys, ages 11 through 16. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. from September through June. Through a Kodály music curriculum, children learn vocalization, sight-reading, and performance skills. They learn to sing in two-, three- and four-part harmony with repertoire in many styles and languages. This ensemble begins advanced level repertoire in three- and four-parts and performs 15-20 concerts each season.

Young Men's Chorus / Francisco J. Núñez (Conductor)

  

Young men with changed voices, ages 12 through 18. Meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. from September through June. Singers learn music theory, aural training and performance skills. Individual attention is given to each singer as his voice develops. They learn to sing in three- and four-part harmony and begin advanced level repertoire in many styles. Gives 20-30 public performances yearly.

Concert Chorus / Francisco J. Núñez (Conductor)

  

Girls and boys, ages 12 through 18. Meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. from September through June. Concert choristers must demonstrate advanced vocal techniques, fluency in sight-reading and harmony. Concert choristers master a rigorous program of challenging music ranging from Schubert to Debussy to Gershwin, world music to pop.

Chorale / Francisco J. Núñez (Conductor)

Members of Young Men's and Concert Chorus combine to perform SATB advanced repertoire. Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. as needed.
