YPC's mission is to provide children of diverse abilities and backgrounds a comprehensive knowledge of music as a way to further their personal and artistic growth and foster cross-cultural understanding.

Unique in its emphasis on diversity, the YPC brings together young singers from across the spectrum of New York City's population. Young people from all five boroughs—representing a wide range of faiths, nationalities, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and over 150 public, private, and parochial schools—work, sing, and perform together.

The young people of the Chorus develop a sense of community . . . a focus for artistic and creative energy . . . the chance to develop discipline, skills, and friendships.
