Lauren Quigley, Assistant Conductor for the award-winning
Young People’s Chorus of New York City, conducts the gold-medal winning
Young Men’s Division of the YPC. Since joining the YPC Staff in 2004,
Lauren has conducted at the Roundabout Theater, the Kaufmann Theater at
the 92nd Street Y, New York University’s Loewe Theater, and New England
Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. Lauren has prepared choruses for Francisco
Nunez, Janet Galvan, and James John.
Lauren also assists with production for the YPC and organizes and produces the YPC workshops entitled “NYC Honor Chorus Festival” and “Across Borders”.
Lauren is an active member of MENC, KONY and ACDA. As a member of ACDA, she has co-chaired the Eastern Division Children’s Honor Chorus for the 2006 conference in NYC. She has presented at the NYSSMA Summer Conference in 2005 and also attended workshops and festivals with all three organizations. She also guest conducted the Sullivan County All-County Junior High Chorus in March 2006.
Lauren received a Bachelor of Music Education at Ithaca College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Lauren has studied conducting with Janet Galvan, Larry Doebler, and Doreen Rao. She holds her level 3 certification with the Choral Music Experience program, founded by Doreen Rao.
At Ithaca College, Lauren served as a student conductor for both the Women’s Chorale and Ithaca College Chorus. She also completed an internship with the Ithaca Children’s Chorus, touring to Canada and accompanying and conducting each level of the Chorus.
