Amy Kotsonis
Assistant Conductor / Director of Workshops
Amy Kotsonis, Assistant Conductor, directs the Intermezzo Chorus, and serves as assistant conductor and vocal coach for all other divisions. Ms. Kotsonis is also the Director of Workshops, and is a teacher in the YPC Satellite School Program, working in the New York City public schools to bring the acclaimed YPC choral program to children throughout New York City.
Ms. Kotsonis is a cum laude graduate of New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, and was selected as Music Student of the Year in 2001. She earned a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Music History from the University of New Hampshire where she served as an assistant conductor of choirs and instructor for techniques and methods in choral music. Ms. Kotsonis has taught in public schools around New York City and Boston for several years, and has served as assistant coordinator, conductor and instructor at the Summer Youth Music School at the University of New Hampshire. She is an active choral clinician and has directed choral workshops and guest conducted throughout New England. Ms. Kotsonis was the interim conductor for Sandpipers—the Seacoast Children’s Chorus, and has performed as conductor and organist for several churches. An active pianist as well, Ms. Kotsonis has been music director and pianist for many theater works, soloists and ensembles throughout New York City and New England. Ms. Kotsonis has studied conducting under Andrew Boysen, Jr. and William Kempster, voice with Jenni Cook and Dianna Heldman, and piano with Gail Adams and Arlene Kies.
